Shree Muthappan Nercha Vellattam
Shree Muthappan Nercha Vellattam will be conducted at the Temple on Sunday, 12th October 2025 from 6.00 am onwards.

The popular belief is that Gods are resting in heaven. In Northern part of Kerala i.e. Malabar region they visit the earth in the form of “Theyyams” (‘Theyyam’ means incarnation of God) and give darshan and solace to the devotees. In Malabar Region, mainly at Parassinikkadavu, Kannur, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva are worshiped together in the form of Thiruvappana and Vellattam and they give blessings to the people.
There are many Theyyams in Kerala. But Shree Muthappan of Parassinikkadavu, Kannur in Kerala has reigned over all other Theyyams. This is because of the unique combination of the powers of Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. Though Shree Muthappan represents a single avatharam (incarnation), it represents two Godly figures – Lord Vishnu with fish shaped crown i.e. Thiruvappana and Lord Shiva with a crescent shaped crown i.e. Vellattom. Therefore, Shree Muthappan is the incarnation of Supreme Gods i.e. Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva.
During Theyyam performance, the people really feel that they meet the God in person. The devotees are called one by one, listened to their grievances and predictive cures are offered. It is believed that God Shree Muthappan has the powers to offer solutions to the problems faced by devotees. It is also a popular belief the God Shree Muthappan will not let down those who take refuge in him and cannot stand betrayal. People from all walks of life seek His blessings before venturing into any enterprise. Thousands of devotees are visiting Parasinikkadavu every day.
Sree Muthappan Seva Samithi, Ahmedabad, is a registered Charitable Trust, conducts Thiruvappana Vellattam every year for the benefits of Sree Muthappan Devotees in and around Ahmedabad.
